Our client, a household name in a very blue-chip sector, seeks a Data Visualization and Charting Business Manager who can conceive, prototype, develop, and hone the charts and other graphics that deliver financial and economic data to its sophisticated customers.
Gun Profile:
While you started your career on the visual design or user experience side, you’ve evolved into a product and UX strategist who knows exactly how to drive a product from inception to completion. You have vast reserves of experience and creativity around data visualization, including real-time, narrative, and interactive methods. You should also be a modern designer with visionary ideas and the technical chops to make them work. Programming experience is a major plus.
And given the financial house you’ll be helping furnish, being innumerate won’t cut it. To hit the ground running in this role, you should know the best ways to make sense of economic and financial data of all sorts.
Nitty Gritty:
The Data Visualization and Charting Product Manager will manage the creation of graphic components used as part of this financial giant’s unique stream of financial data, which is used by hundreds of thousands of traders, analysts, and other financial professionals daily.
Starting with mockups and other prototypes and moving through the entire development process, you will collaborate with designers, business managers, engineers, outside teams, and clients to make these graphic products as clear and effective as they can be.
As you probably know, numbers guys live and die by understanding and responding to the data a little more quickly than the competition, and that’s why your job is mission critical to keeping the company out in front — show how you’ll give the customers an edge in this role, and you’ll have an edge yourself.
Inside Skinny:
Social media is going to loom very large in the revamp of this company’s main product, which is being readied for a reboot in 2012. Any blue-sky ideas about how social could be integrated into data visualization just might find some willing ears here.
Net-Net:
This company stays on top by delivering data in ways that no one else can. This is a great chance to be part of that effort — and to do so in a very influential role.
